Over the course of the semester you will acquire extensive knowledge of the historical events that occurred in the late 1960s, while developing expertise in assessing history through a transnational lens. In addition, you will gain a broad conceptual understanding of the social, cultural, and political developments that brought about the anti-authoritarian revolts as well as their lasting repercussions in the post-1968 period. In completing course assignments, you will improve your ability to identify central arguments in secondary sources as well as reflect on what primary sources tell us about a specific historical period. You will further hone your research and writing skills in completing the final research paper for this course.
